XBox 360 discounts?

The Update part of this appears to still be running, tho I didn't fully test it. A number of people hereabouts might be interested.

» Amazon To Sell 1,000 Xbox 360 Core For $100 Thursday

Black Friday may be happening the day after Thanksgiving but online retailer Amazon.com is having a huge sale on Thursday (Thanksgiving Day in the US). At 11 am PST the retailer will sell 1,000 units of Microsoft's Xbox 360 Core game console for just $100. Normally the Core system (which comes with a wired controller and no hard drive) sells for $299. There is a small catch: you have to have an Amazon.com account and go to the Amazon Customers Vote page to purchase the console. Amazon even has a page with tips to increase your chances on getting the Xbox 360 deal. Update Dell is now selling an Xbox 360 console (the full version with the 20 GB hard drive) for just $340 on their web site, a $60 price drop. In order to see the discount you have to go to the web page, and then go to the customise page and remove all the extra acccessories and then add the Xbox 360 system to the cart to see the discount.

Re: XBox 360 discounts?

I heard that the discount brought so much traffic that amazon had a brief heart attack.

I was also trying to get one of those $100 360s. I got the page to load at 2:08 EST.  I had Firefox and Safari trying to get in.

Re: XBox 360 discounts?

2:08? Not a chance. tongue

Several major retailers reportedly had issues with high amounts of web traffic on their web sites during Black Friday.  Wal-Mart's web site was difficult to access in the morning, leaving users with blank pages, delays and/or other problems.  In the early afternoon, the web site just told users to come back at a later time.  comScore Media Metrix says Walmart.com is the 21st most popular web site in the U.S., with almost 23 million unique visitors going to the site in September.

The possibility of purchasing one of 1,000 Microsoft Xbox 360 Core consoles  for $100 caused Amazon.com to slow down around 11AM PST yesterday.  The small amount of Xbox 360 Core consoles sold out 29 seconds after the deal went live.  Amazon's web site appeared to be back to normal within 15 minutes of the Xbox 360 deal ending.   The additional traffic brought some affiliate Amazon sites to a crawl, such as Target.com.

Re: XBox 360 discounts?

There are usually discounts available for overstock.com and residents of most states don't have to pay sales tax when ordering from them.

Becoming a member and then linking through this site helps.

(No, I don't have any affiliation with them.)
