And an English language search like "Halifax, Canada to Chicago, Illinois" is supported, automatically showing the route and directions. try it

Re: Google Maps
Doesn't support Safari or IE for the Mac. Not cool.
"Overall, the results are pretty clear: Mac users might not actually be smarter than PC users, but they certainly use better English and a larger vocabulary to express more complex thinking."

Now, not only can Bill Gates find pizza shops nearby, he can click on their pushpin and get a short description!

It sort of works, but there are some bugs and it's really slow. Try it in Firefox. It works a lot better.
Eventually Google will get around to supporting Safari. Apple is improving the JavaScript engine in version 1.3, so it should run fast too.

Re: Google Maps
Will look forward to trying it sometime when it supports Safari. In the meantime, maps.msn.com is a good alternative to mapquest.

That is Safari's fault. It doesn't have the XML support required for Google Maps at the moment. No doubt the version of Safari with Tiger will make things good again.

Given that it's only been out two days is that any huge surprise! Then again maybe it is given that it was developed in Australia.. I believe that the US maps were a lot easier to come by than the Ozzie maps.

I'm pretty sure it's not doing vector graphics. The graphics are already drawn in every size and are simply downloaded in squares based on what you can see and what you may want to scroll to. I think the graphics format is optimised somewhat to improve speed, but that's it.

Have any Safari users tried zooming in? I can only get it to zoom a couple of times and then everything goes blue (blank)....

So we're saying that Safari is XML deficient compared to Internet Explorer for Windows, not to mention Safari
