If you liked rRootage...
http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~cs8k-cyu/windows/tt_e.html
Mac version:
A quick google search revealed a site with a Mac link.
Torus Trooper
This game is great, like Stun Runner on crack. I've only played a little bit, but I know I'm going to get addicted to it.
One question -- the Readme says this about changing resolution:
- Options
These options are available:
-brightness n Set the brightness of the screen.(n = 0 - 100, default = 100)
-luminosity n Set the luminous intensity.(n = 0 - 100, default = 0)
-res x y Set ths screen resolution to (x, y).
-nosound Stop the sound.
-window Launch the game in the window, not use the full-screen.
-reverse Reverse the shot key and the slow key.
How do you suppose I access this?
Oh did I mention it's free?
In and around the lake,
Mountains come out of the sky
And they stand there!

Re: If you liked rRootage...
One of the greatest game developers ever...
Kenta Cho is a true artist.
The ABA Games site is in both english and japanese.
There should be a link somewhere to switch the languages.
Kenta Cho doesn't port his own games over to the Mac.
Someone else ported over Noiz2sa and rRootage to the Mac.
As far as I know, only rR and N2sa have been ported to the Mac thus far.
KC only keeps info on the games he releases himself.
There are java based games on the site that anyone can play (I've yet to try them out though. Between my dial-up connection and the main ABA games, just haven't had the chance).
Being able to experience the rest of the ABA games makes me greatful that I have a PC laptop to play them on.
However, I still can't figure out how to switch between all those available options that the "read me" files mention.
The Mac ports of N2sa and rR have most of those options easily accessible (at game startup). If only it were that easy to do on the originals...
Eh... I was going to write up some mini-reviews/gameplay-strategies/critiques for all the downloadable ABA games, but figured it would make this post a bit too long. I may yet post'em if others want me to.
As for Torus Trooper, I've been playing it for almost 2 months now.
Lets see if you (or anyone else) has beaten my current TT high score:
Mode : Extreme
Current Level : 69
Score : 3747100 (Levels 1 - 10)
Haven't even touched the other 2 difficulty modes yet...
In my honest opinion, Noiz2sa/Torus Trooper > Parsec 47 > rRootage
Of all the "serious shooters" that ABA Games has released on the PC/Mac, I consider rRootage to be the most boring, unoriginal, and overrated of them all. All that said, its still a great game and I love it more than most other non-ABA shooters out there.

Noiz2sa is by far the most boring, IMHO. Not to mention the white color scheme,
I need to figure out how to change resolutions on these games. I'd play Parsec 47 if I could just get it looking less like crap.

Thanks, I absent mindedly posted the wrong link.

Re: If you liked rRootage...
TT & p47 ported to the Mac already??!!?!
Downloading now!!!!!!
Looks like I'll be spending a little less time in front of my laptop.
I'll have to pass all those levels again though...Oh, well...
It'll be a nice challenge.
Hopefully they'll run much faster and look much better on my Mac than on my laptop. Crappy Trident video chip...
If only it were an ATi or a nVidia chip instead...
That would be cool.
Alrighty, I'll organize everything and post it up later when I got the time.

Re: If you liked rRootage...
if you want to change around the options mentioned in the torus trooper readme, you have to use a command line command. This requires you to either run the game from the dos prompt (pain in the butt) or create a batch file containing the command line command you want to run.
To do this, make a new text file and put it in the game's root directory
let's say you want to run the game windowed, type:
tt.exe -window
and then save the text file as "something.bat" instead of ".txt". Then double click on the batch file you have created to launch the game with the special option you chose. You can replace "-window" with any command you want to use.
this is for pc's btw. Not sure how you do it on a mac.
