BeOS PPC Browser?
I'm using the standard NetPositive for BeOS Pro 5 on my Power Macintosh here, and I need a new browser for the sake of being able to read web pages! Nothing seems to load properly except BeBits and perhaps the Be Documentation that opens in NetPositive. Unfortunately, I looked on the Opera and Mozilla sites and can only find Intel versions of the BeOS builds. Anyone know of a good browser for a PPC BeOS system?
I love BeOS

bah
BAH I say!
You're going to let a little thing like that keep you from the best OS there ever was?
Yeah, yeah, I love Jaguar, but I firmly believe that BeOS is as good, and, with support, potentially better than anything one could base on NeXT. Jaguar is superior only because Apple has money and recognition.
Anyway, nobody knows any good alternative browsers for BeOS PPC?

Re: BeOS PPC Browser?
sure, but they're all compiled for Intel... or am I wrong?

Re: BeOS PPC Browser?
I've found it a tough CD to image because of the BFS partition that nothing else recognizes, though I'd be willing to try if anyone wants one; you can also buy on eBay for relatively little from Gobe or Purplus...

Re: BeOS PPC Browser?
I've been using Nero or copy the CD's. I'm using CloneCD right now to image it.
Anyway, I don't know what your browser options are. Perhaps there's a way you could get source and compile it.

Re: BeOS PPC Browser?
If it didn't make it to 5.0 then there's a serious print issue with the disk I have. It says on it.
"BeOS"
"Pro Edition 5.0"
"Version 5.0"
"x86 & PowerPC"

Re: BeOS PPC Browser?
Yeah, same here, BeOS 5.0.3 Pro.
It is perfect for something like a 6500; I can't remember if that's on the hardware compatibility list, but it sounds like it would be. The key is no 601 processors (603 and 604 only) and no motherboards that are too new (the 350Mhz 9600 and the 300Mhz 8600 won't work in most cases). It has some serious support for MP so if you can get ahold of an MP box definitely do so...

Maybe it was "Version SO WHAT", and the "WHAT" got rubbed off?

Re: BeOS PPC Browser?
for anyone that might be looking for BeOS.img on gnutella (acquisition) keep trying. Sometimes my connection freezes.
BeOS.img.sit should be available tonight some time. I think that will make things a bit better for anyone trying to get it.
